How are loose leaf herbal teas prepared?
There are three main ways of preparing infusions of herbs or flowers: by maceration, in infusion and decoction. Cold brew is a method based on preparation with cold water, where the plants are submerged for a certain amount of time, ranging from a few hours to a few days.
For the infusion method, the plants, flowers and leaves are immersed in boiling or simmering water for a few minutes, depending on the type of blend and the flowers.
Decoction consists of boiling the hardest parts of the plant, then filtering them and thus extracting their essence.
