Explore Our Chinese Teas Online
Chinese tea varies widely in leaf shape, color, taste, and aroma. As the birthplace of tea nearly 4000 years ago, China is home to the first production of each tea category: white, green, yellow, oolong, black and heicha (pu-erh) were all created and refined in various regions throughout the country over hundreds—or in some cases, thousands—of years.
Tea’s place in traditional Chinese culture, art and society cannot be overstated, and is a marvel for those outside to behold.
Chinese people have been enjoying the health benefits of green tea for thousands of years. Not only is it bright and refreshing but also low in caffeine. Chinese tea is an excellent source of antioxidants and high in vitamins C, E, and fluoride. Research has shown that drinking green tea can further boost the immune system, reduce high blood pressure, and regulate cholesterol levels.
There are many benefits to drinking Chinese tea beyond the satisfying taste. Chinese tea is great for helping improve blood flow and supporting weight loss by helping your metabolism function well. All of which makes imbibing in Chinese tea a worthwhile investment.

How to Brew a Cup of Chinese Tea
To brew a perfect cup of Chinese tea you need to do the following.
- One teaspoon or two grams of tea per 200ml.
- Use water that is 70–80°C or one quarter cold water and three quarters boiling water.
- Chinese green tea can be steeped for up to four minutes.
The trick with Chinese tea is not to over-brew it. Brewing tea for too long or using water that has just boiled will often result in a bitter tasting tea that is not enjoyable. When made properly, Chinese tea is a truly lovely and refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed any time of the day. Here are some tips on how to make the best cup!
It is best to brew filtered water but this is not essential. Water used should be below boiling point at about 80°C. If you don’t have a temperature-controlled kettle, turn your kettle off before it reaches boiling point and allow it to sit for a minute before pouring.
